Celebrate amazing low light photography

To celebrate the power of its low light photography technology, Sony held a unique event, Twilight Football. Spread across the globe, 7 football matches took place in 7 stunning world locations to show how Exmor R™ CMOS Sensor technology captures incredible detail and fast-moving action in low light filming conditions – one of the toughest challenges in digital photography and filming.

Twilight Football. Seven games, one amazing event

What happened on the day?

On September 22/23, teams of Twilight Football competition winners gathered to play 7 games of football against some of the most spectacular backdrops the world has to offer. In some cases players battled the natural elements as well as the trying to beat the opposition.

For photographers and videographers the challenge lay in both the location and low light. Of course, these challenges were also an opportunity to capture incredible images.

Stunning shots from the lucky winners

Having selected the most talented photographers from each region Sony then equipped them with cameras and camcorders (DSC-WX1, DSC-TX1, HDR-CX520VE and DSLR-A550) to capture all the low light action at the 7 locations and really put the products to the test!

Six lucky winners, from one of the many competitions, were flown to South Africa - hosts of the 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa™, to cover the final match.
