More about high performance TVs

Full HD 1080 logo

BRAVIA Full High Definition fulfills all the specifications of HD ready and meets two further criteria for extraordinary image quality and a truly immersive experience: full reproduction of 24p input and a minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. All BRAVIA televisions upwards of 32" that carry the Full HD 1080 logo make the most of this visual revolution – yet you can sit closer to them than flat-screen TVs with less resolution. With Full HD, you can enjoy HD 1080 broadcasts on your BRAVIA as well as next-generation Full HD (1080p) entertainment on Blu-ray Disc™ and PLAYSTATION®3. The massive 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution on Full HD BRAVIA models brings everything to life. Images are smoother, more detailed and more realistic. It’s like watching the world through an open window. Full HD, in combination with the amazing colour and smooth, sharp motion for which BRAVIA is renowned, makes for a intense viewing experience and image quality better than anything you’ve seen before.

Television at its best

Two kinds of High Definition

High Definition televisions come in two types, each with its own easy-to-spot logo: HD ready and HD ready with Full HD. The higher the HD resolution, the more detailed and lifelike the image you see on-screen. HD ready resolution delivers twice as many pixels as traditional Standard Definition (SD). And if an HD ready TV is also Full HD, it doubles the pixels again – generating 1080 horizontal lines of resolution for the very best High Definition experience available in the home today.

Advanced HD connectivity

Advanced HD connectivity

For cabled plug-and-play compatibility with High Definition devices (and BRAVIA Sync), all BRAVIA models offer up to four HDMI™ connections. HDMI™ is the next-generation cable that allows you to experience High Definition films, games and more with no loss in quality. Sony’s new ZX1 and EX1 televisions also feature integrated BRAVIA 1080 Wireless, a revolutionary type of cable-free Full HD (1080i) connection.
