Which Vaio model do you have and are there any ‘beeps’ or messages when you attempt to boot, does the boot process get as far as displaying the Vaio logo?

Assuming that the recovery partition is intact and you have a backup of any data you need then you could tap F10 at boot to enter the HDD recovery utility and restore to factory settings. However, if this is a hardware problem then this will not solve the problem.
