I recently moved houses, and lost my old User Manual to my ancient TV SONY KV-D2511D.

I need information about how to use the little handheld control, when setting up information for the screen, to show which channel and other information, shown on the scree.

The rest is no problem - just this.

Where is the Netflix option on BDV-E3100 home theatre?

This model is marked as having Netflix (there is a sticker on the bluray player), Netflix is on the box, and Netflix is advertised as being available on this product. Yet there is no Netflix button on the remote control (RM-ADP090).

I am a Netflix subscriber and have access via the TV to which my Sony system is connected but am baffled by the difficulty in finding how I access Netflix via the bluray player. How do I get to Netflix on the player?

Can anyone help with what Im missing?

I recently purchased a sony rdr hxd 890 hdd freeview recorder . I have plugged in and attached all the lead and this works all ok.

Unfortunatley the machine will not switch over to the digital tuner.

By pressing the input button on the remote it should go line 1, line 2, pr1 then d001.

it only shows the 3 inputs.

I believe I had this problem before but this was due to the aeriel being in the wrong socket...

This is not the case this time.

I have checked the signal down the lead with other units and this is fine so its not the signal coming down the line.

The seller of this item has offered to take it back and says that they never used the machine for freeview only a HDD rcorder from SKY+..

The seller has offered to take this itme back but Im sure im missing something.

Can anyone help

RDR-HXD970 displays 'update' but unresponsive

Hello, I have read about disappearing channels etc, however my unit is virtually unresponsive. Display says 'update', neither HDD nor DVD is lit up and no buttons on remote or unit work. I tried short and long switch off/ on, no change. If I switch off then back on quickly, then repeatedly press 'Stop with Power on/off' on front panel, I get message 'welcome' and some buttons work for about a minute, TV shows picture and channel can be changed, then green zig zag lines show, then no picture, no response. During that 1 minute I have tried factory reset (stop & power on/off) but no response, even when I can change channels/ eject DVD.

I tried Firmware update (no idea what current version is, can't access any menus). With tray open short switch electricity off/ on, followed by 'Stop & Power on/off' buttons brings me to 'welcome'. I press 'rec stop & eject' and mostly no respone, but sometimes the tray has been closed. I think was in response to the 'close' button only- display says 'CD' then I get 4 dashes in time display with channel number on display, and the unit freezes.

After short switch off/ on I can start playing a DVD, but it also gets green zig zags after a minute or so, then blank screen.

Can any kind of reset save this, or is it trashed?

Can't play photo discs

I have just changed from a standard DVD player to a Sony BDP-S185 Blu-Ray player and have discovered that my photo discs will not play on this machine. Can anyone please tell me why and if there is anything I can do about it. I still have the photos on computer so can burn them again if required.

BDV-E380 Audio/Video Sync, audio always lagging using external input

Hi,

I'm having severe problems setting up a BDV-E380 system. I'm unable to get the audio and video from different sources to synchronise correctly.

My setup:

BDV-E380 HDMI OUT <--> TV (Philips, using HDMI1 with ARC)

Mediaplayer <--> BDV-E380 HDMI1

The problem is that no matter how I connect my mediaplayer, I always end up with a situation in which the audio is lagging with respect to the displayed video.

Because the audio is lagging, there is no way to correct it: using the AV/Sync option on the E380 only allows one to add an additional audio delay (in my case the audio is already delayed to begin with). I'm unable to measure accurately, but it seems to be delayed at least 250ms.

I tried all possible connections and available options (i.e. connecting mediaplayer directly to TV HDMI2 and audio trough optical or digital link to E380 or any other way). I also tried disabling HDMI ARC, Control over HDMI, Easylink, BraviaSync or any other option I could find but there is virtually no difference.

When I disconnect the E380 out, and only connect mediaplayer directly to TV, the audio sync if perfect. Using another mediaplayer exhibits the same problem. I tested both mediaplayers in also another configuration (using a Samsung HTS), and in this case the AV/sync is perfect, so it seems be caused by the E380.

So it seems that for some reason the E380 is delaying the incoming audio coming either through HDMI, SPDIF optical or digital. Altough using the digital input (SAT/CABLE source) the delay seems to a bit less but still very noticable, and very annoying...

Suprisingly, when I use the TV input on the E380, and have it playing the TV audio stream (from TV ot E380 either trough HDMI or optical SPDIF) the sync is perfect... but I still have the audio lagging when using external inputs on the E380.

One additional thing I noticed is that switching on and off the E380 sometimes makes the AV/sync a bit less, but again still very noticable...

I hope there is a solution to the above problems I described!

RDR-HXD970 firmware updated but still problems

I have now performed the firware update as described on the Sony Website 3 times in the last week and checked that my firmware is now version 1.70. The dvd player works for a couple of days or hours and then the UPDATE message is back on the display and I have to do it again. Any solutions out there?

SVR-HDT500 forgotten password

Hi guys,

I've got an SVR-HDT500 and I've forgotten the password... The manual tells me that the default password is '0000' but its clearly not working. Is there a master password I can use so that I can format the hard drive or reset the box? I can't even rescan for channels so its pretty useless at the moment....!

We've had the hdt500 connected to a samsung tv for a while so I know the HDMI output is working but when connecting it to a LG-LH7000 the initial 'High Definition Hard Disk Recorder' shows up screen but then when the HDT500 is powered up I get a 'no signal' message. Sometimes you get a flash of picture before the LG then goes back to 'no signal'. The connection works fine over standard video and audio cables.

I have tried different Hdmi cables and switching the output from auto to 720, 1080i and 1080p settings.

I should also add the PS3 works fine over HDMI when connected to the TV.

This could be a question for LG forums but thought it worth posting here as we'll.

Any ideas - this is driving me nuts!

SVR-HDT500 Audio Drop-Outs

I am getting occasional audio drop-outs during the playback of some recordings, specifically some recent BBC2HD recordings of The Tudors. It appears to be caused by the BBC transmission changing scanning modes between progressive and interlace, often several times during the same programme.

I have the latest r8585 software installed. Through searching the internet, this issue has been known about for some time, and software fixes for other products have been released. Will there be such an update for this PVR?

Blu-Ray Power drop-out

My BDV-E980 Bluray power drops out from standby after a while and won't come back on, either through the remote or the use of the start button on the front. The only way to get it to restart is by unplugging the unit, leaving it for 15 minutes and then plugging it back in.

I believe that it may be due to some setting, but can't find the solution.

Does anyone know how to solve this.

Have a couple of issues with my BDP-S490 which I recieved yesterday.

First issue is that it doesn't communicate with my surround amp to let it know what format the sound is in. It only says PCM even when I switch sound modes on the disc I'm watching to DTS or Dolby Digital. Strange thing is, is that it only does this with Blu Rays, Dvd's are fine at displaying the correct sound being recieved.

Second issue is with SACD. I can only get it to output surround sound going out through HDMI. It only sends stereo through optical connection, no matter what settings I change in the audio or sound menus.

Can someone else check this on their units or could Sony clarify if mine is defective.

My Surround amp is a recent model and worked fine with my previous Sony Blu Ray player (BDP-S370)

why does my BDP-S790 not find my WMP-11 library

I have moved my s790 from one room to another. When in the old room it found and played tracks from my WMP-11 library. After the move it can't do this. It is present on the network and can access internet services like BBC iplayer with no problem. I have checked the Windows Firewall setting and it is allowing Windows Media Player Sharing Service as an exception (6 entries for it). I have re-installed WMP 11/Library/Media Sharing has found the Bluray player and has Allowed it access, but still the player can't find it. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

When finalising a DVD on RDR-HXD870 Recorder it seems to 'lose' important info like date & size!

I've tried everything I can think of (read the manual cover to cover, checked the Tips etc, pushed every button I can find)... this is causing me a real problem and I've stopped finalising my DVDs until I can find a solution so any info would be much appreciated please :

When I record a programme off the TV (usually onto a DVD so I can archive) it helpfully adds the title, channel,

length, size, and date - so I can easily distinguish between episodes for instance, by looking at the date and the

size etc . This is great.

Then I finalise the disc and whichever version of Finalisation I choose they all include only title and channel - all

the other info is now untraceable! Grrrrr.

Surely there must be a way to view this info for each recording AFTER finalising?

SVR-HDT500 Loss of Guide

Hi, TV's in area needed retuning last week so I re-tuned my elderly Mum & Dad's TV & checked the hard drive recorder for updates & tuning. All seemed well although the screen seemed a bit dark. Set the box to record three programmes for them. At weekend they tried to watch the programmes & they had not recorded. They accessed the TV programme Guide to try to record another programme and programme "boxes" was blank. They changed the handset batteries today & briefly had the guide but it has now disappeared. Any clues for me before I go round. Seems like they have lost contact with the world!!

SVR-HDT500 help please

This afternoon I installed my new SVR-HDT500 and unfortunately
when it is switched on nothing happens other than It displays a "Hard Disk
Recorder" message in the middle of the TV screen.

None of the buttons on the remote control do
anything to the SVR-HDT500, It’s not a flat battery in the remote control as I changed
the batteries. I have unplugged the
machine several times but when switched back on the fault persisted. I have tried using the reset button under the
flap on the front but no success there either.

Any ideas?

ok, looking to see if someone can help me out here

Got the bluray player at xmas...connected to my Virgin mediahub and happily watching netflix and lovefilms

The, just last week, the network connection stopped working!

I have gone thru the process for reconnecting to the router but with no joy

Event took the option to perform a factory reset and re-enter all the network info again.

When attempting to connect, the player finds the router, takes the valid key but then comes back with;

wireless connection: Ok

Internet Access: Failed

Can ayone help with this?

PS, I know the router is working as I am using it to log this in the forum.

Hi all, I was thinking about upgrading my dad's dvd system and came across the sony BDP-S185 blu ray player at a very good price. But he really loves his sony dav s888 sound system and is still working like new. So would be a shame to get ridof it. So my overall question to you all is can this new blu ray player be connected to this oldish sound system? P.s I would like to know soon as I wanted to get this for him for father's day.

HDD recorder picture pixilation

I have an RDR-HXD560 recorder. When I watch programmes using it as a Freview reciever, or when I have recorded programmes on it, I get varying degrees of pixilation. I have retuned it many times with no improvement.

My arial engineer says that he thinks that the recorder is 'auto tuning' itself to a different transmitter than my Bravia TV. The TV picture is fine.

Does anyone know if the recorder can be manually tuned?

I bought the Sony BDP-S1100 Blu-ray DVD player and it says it has BBC iplayer support. When I try to load the BBC iplayer option it says that it needs a firmware upgrade to work - but there isnt a firmaware upgrade available, so any idea how I get it to work?

Answer to my own question here. Windows media player, change libraries and add folders from any drive to appear as dlna content.

Due to an incident, my HDR-HX525 unit has suffered a physical misha

Having opened the case, the electrics look shot, but the HDD side is structurally sound

I removed the HDD and attached it to a Windows Vista computer, but can not access the drive, or even the VISTA disk management program.

Is it possible to attach the drive to a lower system (XP, 98) or even a LINUX system to access the files of it? i.e. what file system does it use?

Any help would be appreciated.

SVR-HDT500 won't turn on when a programme is recording

My Sony SVR-HDT500 usually turns on fine. My habit is to press 'Title list' if I want to watch something previously recorded, or 'Guide' if I want to watch a TV programme that is on now, and my Bravia TV automatically turns on and switches to receive the input from the SVR-HDT500. After several months using this machine, a new problem has recently turned up. When I try to turn the SVR-HDT500 on, the 'on' light shows on the machine (the horizontal white light) but the TV remains a blank black screen. This only happens when the SVR-HDT500 is recording a TV programme using a timer setting, i.e it started recording whilst the machine was in standby. At other times the SVR-HDT500 turns on as normal. If I press the 'reset' button on the front panel briefly then the picture re-appears. This didn't used to happen and the software hasn't been changed recently. Anyone have any ideas what has happened, and how I can fix it?

BDP-S370 randomly stops playing DVDs and CDs

Hi there,

we've had our BDP-S370 for just over a year now and have been very happy with it. However, just over a week ago it has started playing up when we play DVDs and CDs (haven't notice the same issue with Blu Rays). It will randomly stop playing the CD/DVD and we get a blank screen although it does not turn itself off. We haven't notice it stops at a particular point of the CD/DVD...sometimes it's within 5 minutes of it playing, some others it's half-way through the film.

Any tips much appreciated as it's not quite as fun to have to restart everything each time we try and watch a film.

BBC 1 & 2 Recording Fault

BT infinity was recently installed as a upgrade to an existing Bt vision box. The set up includes a Sony DVD player which is a number of years old, but successfully used for recording programmes across all channels in the past. This is a prime piece of kit for the family as we record programmes for my disabled son.

The Sony Model number is RDR - HXD710 and does not have a HDMI cable capacity.

Since the set up, but not recognised after the initial installation, we can not record on the Sony, BBC 1 & 2 channels. All other stations OK.

The system recognises the Channel identification and programme title, both on the TV guide and recorded title list, but does not record the programme signal / content. Just a grey screen.

Any ideas as to a solution?
