Pfff I forced a little and the module was in, I think that the slot was really new so it needed to be forced a little lol ...

Hello everybody ^^

I face to a strange problem...

I bought a new 1 GB Memory Module (not a sony but a Gskill), it's a DDR2-PC5300 SO-DIMM (accorded to Sony).

I wanted to install it this morning but impossible, the module doesn't get in the Slot2...
I pulled the memory module 1 out (the original of sony) an pull the new one (gskill) in, no problem...
I tried to pull the Sony module to the slot 2...impossible...

I saw neer to the slot 2 : "DDR STD"
I saw neer to the slot 1 : "DDR RVS"

I don't understand what's the problem ?!
The two slot seems to be different ?!

Someone have any information ?!

Hi,

I have found a wiget that show you the frequency of the CPU in real time

There is the link

And the last version of Everest show you the real frequency and the real voltage of the CPU.

So efficiently Vista really down the frequency and the voltage, the lowest for my CPU is 0.9V and 1Ghz (with the power supply).

If I'm right XP down the CPU frequency until 800mhz...

I'll test with the battery in order to know if this "new" power management is better than XP.

Anybody have made the comparison ?

2That is normal. Your CPU should clock down when the notebook idles. If you watch it closely, it'll clock up IMMEDIATELY when starting a program etc. (if running @ 100%)

So the power management of the CPU is different from XP ?! because under XP this wasn't so "immediate"....

If you go to Power Options -> Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings you'll see an option called "Processor power management" -- This is where to select your clock speed :)

OK yes i see the option...but I don't know if the CPU speed is really less than 2.17 when it's idle... with everest the clock speed doesn't change whatever i do .. (on battery or not > nothing change ...)

I'm alone in this case ? your CPU speed goes down when your PC is idle ?? or on battery ? maybe i have forgot something...

Someone has information about the Sony HDD Protector in Vista ??
Because I don't find how to configure it (no unknown hardware so it's installed..)
Under Windows XP you can configure it in the VAIO Control Center but not under Vista...

Hello,

I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my VAIO VGN-SZ2VP. Everything works fine and it was not needed to install Microsoft Patch for the hot key ! Juste the Sony drivers

But I'm not sur if the CPU speed goes down when the PC is idle... because when I see in properties of the "My Computer" the CPU is every time at 2.17 Ghz...

Moreover i don't know where to go to modfy the properties of the CPU speed ?!

Have you an idea ?
